Interactive grocery store tours provide families with hands-on education as they shop. Participants learn to buy fruits and vegetables on a budget, compare unit prices to find bargains and read nutrition labels to make healthy choices.
Tours take about an hour and participants receive a $10 gift card to practice their new skills. |
Collaborating with community partners that serve low-income families, we offer our six-week courses to adults, families and teens. Each course is team-taught by a volunteer chef and volunteer nutrition educator. Courses cover meal preparation, food budgeting and nutrition. Participants cook and eat a meal together and receive a free bag of groceries so they can recreate the meal at home.

Volunteer with us. Cooking Matters volunteers contribute to the success of our six-week courses and interactive grocery store tours. Volunteers lead tours, teach cooking and nutrition skills, and serve as classroom assistants. We train you and then you select a course or tour at a time and place that's convenient for you.
